Recently, Google Cloud introduced a new big language model dubbed Sec-PaLM to revolutionize cybersecurity operations. Sec-PaLM is a generative AI model that drives Google Cloud Security AI Workbench, announced at RSA Conference 2023 this week in San Francisco. The offering takes advantage of the company’s years of exceptional visibility into the evolving threat landscape and is optimized for cybersecurity operations.

Security tools like Security AI Workbench and Mandiant Breach Analytics for Chronicle benefit from Google’s Sec-PaLM, a large-scale language model for information security, and the company’s extensive security intelligence. Due to technological advancements, the use of large-scale language models has expanded beyond the realm of simple language processing. The use of large-scale language models in the field of information security has recently seen a boom. Sec-PaLM is a large-scale language model created by Google for security applications. Tune up Chronicle’s defenses with Security AI Workbench, VirusTotal Code Insight, and Mandiant Breach Analytics.

Google released the Security AI Workbench platform, and it includes Sec-PaLM. This security language model incorporates a wide range of security data, such as the Google threat landscape, Mandiant security flaws, malware, threat indicators, and background details on threat actors. Through the Application Programming Interface (API), Google’s partners and users may use Security AI Workbench to gain valuable threat intelligence and other security features.

Sec-PaLM has successfully countered hundreds of the most sophisticated cyber assaults and uses this knowledge to stop similar attacks elsewhere. Google claims this solution uses advanced incident analysis with the company’s “world-class threat intelligence” to prevent malware infestations. Google Cloud Security AI Workbench equips teams with various resources to deal with the ever-increasing threats. One is VirusTotal Code Insight, which employs Sec-PaLM to deconstruct and clarify the operation of possibly harmful code and identities.

Produce risk assessments for privacy and regulatory conformity. Sec-PaLM will be used by Google’s Security Command Center (SCC) to translate complicated attack graphs into understandable explanations of attacks, including details about the assets at risk, potential mitigation steps, and security and legal insights. Another useful tool is Security Command Center AI, which provides insights into the vulnerabilities of individual apps and systems by converting complicated attack graphs into explanations that humans can understand. It ranks the severity of these threats and suggests solutions for consumers to implement.

There are several uses for generative AI in the field of security. Users can investigate potential security holes in their infrastructure and take corrective action in real time with the aid of Mandiant Breach Analytics for the Chronicle’s incorporation of Sec-PaLM. Chronicle users may use the system’s extensive language model to conduct security issue searches in normal language, analyze search results, and generate scanning jobs rapidly without learning a new syntax. The artificial intelligence behind Mandiant’s threat mapping employs Sec-PaLM for fast querying, summarizing, and responding to alerts about potential security breaches. By using Sec-PaLM, Google can ensure that the open-source software suites it offers through its Assured OSS service are safe and free of known vulnerabilities.

Regarding information security, Google isn’t the only company that employs massive language models. Security Copilot, which operates the OpenAI GPT-4 model, was made available by Microsoft at the month’s end, for instance. Information security professionals may use it now that it integrates Microsoft’s security intelligence database. Use natural language queries and analysis to delve deeper into threat data and attack activity.

Google claims that users can make sensitive information accessible to the platform while still satisfying compliance requirements, allowing the system to train itself as it discovers new risks and obstacles faced by security teams. In addition, the features of Security AI Workbench will be released in phases throughout the summer, with the preview release of VirusTotal Code Insight accessible now and further features to be released in the following months.
